    Frequently asked questions

Where does my dog sleep at night?

Anywhere! As a home boarder we like to keep your dog in a similar routine as they would be at home, or if they are struggling being away from home somewhere they will feel safe and can relax. The main areas we find out boarders sleep in is the living room, or in our bedroom in their own bed close by us. This is only for dogs who require close contact. Wherever your dog chooses and is happy to relax is fine by us.

How many dogs stay overnight at a time?

Each house including our own has been individually assessed by Fife Council and Eden Vets to check what the safe amount of dogs to board is so each property's number is different. We find a safe and sensible amount of dogs is no more than 4 at one time to ensure everyone's safety including the dogs.

What will my dog do during the day?

Your dog will join in different activities from trips to the beach, local country walks & trips to secure sensory fields with fun equipment suitable for all dog types. They have a healthy balance of exercise, sensory stimulation and importantly rest. Your dog will receive plenty of attention, snuggles and relaxation.

Does my dog need to be vaccinated?

Yes. All dogs who come to board must be up to date with all their vaccinations.

    What are your host houses?

Host houses are other dog lovers who are involved with Pets On The Beach who have been assessed by Fife Council, Eden Vets and ourselves to look after dogs in their home. There are no secrets or hidden information if your dog is placed with a host house. You will be aware where your dog is and get the chance to meet the host who will be looking after your dog. We work very closely with our host houses to offer 24/7 support and check in on how our dogs are doing.

Will I get to meet the carer?

Yes. You will be offered the chance to meet the carer beforehand, along with dropping and collecting your dog from their home if you wish to do so.

What does my dog need to bring along?

All dogs must come with their own food, lead & bed if they use one. Any medication they are on must also be provided. We do not recommend bringing toys or bowls with you.

I wish to use your services. What next?

Amazing! We are so glad you have chosen us to spend time with your pet. Next we would arrange a meet & greet- this can be at your house or our place, we do recommend our place as it lets you see the home & the home vibe we have. Your fur baby would come along where we would have the chance to also meet and interact with them. If you are happy to proceed we highly recommend a trial night so when you head off on your holidays or work trip you can relax knowing your dog is more likely to settle & familiar with the setting. This also works on the flip side that if your dog is struggling to settle we can put a plan into action to help ease your dog into their stay. A 20% deposit is also due at time of booking.

    Can I have a tour?

Of course, however please keep in mind this is our home also

My dog is on medication, can you administer this to them?

Yes this is not a problem. Your dog must come in its original medication package with instructions attached. We do also require some consent forms to be signed to proceed with this.

    Do you accept puppies?

Absolutely! This is such an important time for them to start socializing. As long as they have had all their vaccinations and up to date with all parasite treatments they are welcome on board.
